Belgian Passivhaus

Belgian Passivhaus

In Europe, houses are built to 'Passivhaus' standards involving in part 'super insulation' in order to reduce heating energy consumption. This insulation method works well to reduce heating demand, however during the summer the heavy insulation causes buildings to overheat. This modeling study evaluated Phase Change Materials to reduce overheating during summer and to reduce winter heating energy.
